Good progress on north Sheffield’s Fox Valley development

10 July 2015

The steelwork is due to be erected on the umbrella shaped coffee shop at Fox Valley in north Sheffield next week.

The design of the building has been inspired by the paragon umbrella frame – invented by Samuel Fox in Stocksbridge in the 1850s.  The landmark building will start to take shape next week.

The main contractors Henry Boot Construction have also completed the steel frame on three of the four other main retail blocks at the £42 million development and the remedial work on the residential site is almost complete – ready for the house builders Stonebridge Homes to start work in the autumn.

The main construction work on the new office buildings Fox House, Maria House and Samuel House has been completed and work is underway on the car park and the internal work, ready for completion at the end of August.

Work is also progressing well on the brick work and the roofing works to block B at Fox Valley – the largest of the retail blocks at the town centre scheme.

Re-surfacing work to Manchester Road is also underway and the new traffic signals are being fitted – final completion on this part of the highway works is expected by July 17th.

Once completed the development will deliver 32 high quality new retail units, with a 600 space car park and high quality office space.  A housing development with 114 new homes is also being developed by Stonebridge Homes on a neighbouring site.

Fox Valley is being delivered by South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties Ltd – the company announced earlier this week that ALDI would be the anchor foodstore tenant at the development with a new format 20,000 sq. ft. store.

Amanda Holmes, Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, said: “There has been a great deal of progress on site over this last month and things are really taking shape,  it’s great to see the steel frames of the buildings going up and the brickwork progressing.”

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
