Full Gas supports Yorkshire cycling event ahead of new store launch

17 July 2015

Full Gas Bikes is proud to be sponsoring this year’s annual Pearoyd Lane Hill Climb event in Stocksbridge – due to take place in September less than half a mile from the Fox Valley development, where the brand new bike shop will be based when it opens next spring.

The annual event attracts competitors from across the UK and its notorious long and steep gradients have also made it a popular course for the National Hill Climb Championships in both 2009 and 2014.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday 27th September and is expected to attract more than 50 entrants.

It is the first event Full Gas Bikes has sponsored – the company is headed by former World Championship Silver Medallist Tony Gibb. The new concept bike store will be based at the Fox Valley development, close to the Hill Climb course, and is due to open in Spring 2016.

The Pearoyd Lane course is 860 yards in length with an average gradient of 14% - it will take riders along a shorter route of the National Hill Climb.  To enter cyclists can visit the website and must register ahead of the competition www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk

Tony said: “This is a brilliant event which represents grassroots, competitive cycling at its best. It is a seriously tough climb - I’ve driven up it, that’s as close as I ever want to get to it!”

“With my current company Full Gas Cycling Ltd, organising and promoting events at the Olympic velodrome and CycloPark in the south, this is a great opportunity to spread the word about Full Gas Bikes Ltd and the whole of the Fox Valley development. We could not be any closer; the lane literally comes out of our car park!”

The Full Gas sponsorship allows equal prize money for winners in both the male and female categories – there will also be an additional award for the fastest rider and a trophy for the fastest Sheffield based 16 years and under rider.

Event organiser, Stewart Smith, said: “It’s great to have the support of a new local company in Full Gas Bikes for this year’s event and fantastic to have Tony involved.

“After the successful staging of the national event last year we are anticipating a great turnout.”
