Fox Valley Shopping Centre welcomes a record breaking 16 thousand people to Food and Drink Festival
19 June 2023
Thousands of food, drink and music lovers flocked to Fox Valley over the weekend to celebrate the shopping centre’s seventh birthday and annual Food and Drink Festival.
The two-day event ran throughout the weekend hosting over 60
regional street food traders offering gourmet dishes from around the globe as
well as a range of sweet treats and fresh produce.
A packed programme of entertainment was provided alongside
the mass of food choices for families, couples and friends to enjoy, including
children’s rides, free glitter tattoos, a bar area and live music hosted in two
stage areas at the centre.
Crowds gathered in the centres piazza area and on the
Saturday as Valley Music Festival hosted their annual performances in the
bandstand bringing live music to the nearby restaurants and creating a
fantastic atmosphere throughout the whole centre. On Sunday, the fountain area
brought lively competition to families as they went head-to-head playing the
giant garden games.
The entertainment tipi showcased a line-up of local talent
with vocalists and bands taking to the stage.
Claire Biltcliffe, Centre Manager at Fox Valley, said: “It
has been an amazing two days with a record footfall of over 16,000 people creating
a really great atmosphere across the centre, with most traders selling out by
4pm.”
“The Fox Valley team have all worked really hard this
weekend to make the event run smoothly and we have had loads of great feedback
from customers.”
“I just want to say a big thank you to all the fabulous
street food traders that joined us and a big thank you to our sponsors, Barratt
and David Wilson Homes, Stocksbridge Town Council and to the Mayor of
Stockbridge, Cllr. Mark Whittaker, for opening the event on Saturday”.
The annual Food Festival might be over for this year, but
the centre still has some amazing events throughout the calendar to keep
shoppers entertained.
Fox Valley hosts a regular programme of markets throughout
the year with a general market held every Friday and specialist monthly markets
held on the first weekend of every month.
Next month is the centre’s Makers Market [June 1 & 2]
which will include a selection of craft traders and live music as well as
partnering with the centres chosen charity, Sheffield Churches Council for
Community Care, who will be holding a free workshop for visitors to make their
own herb garden and cress heads to take home.
