Fox Valley prepares for Christmas Lights switch on event

7 November 2017

The team at Fox Valley in North Sheffield are preparing for the centre’s annual Christmas Lights switch on event which takes place on Friday 17th November.

The event, which is sponsored by Burrows Motor Company, will have lots of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy including performances from St Ann’s school choir, the Lauren McCaslin School of Theatre Dance, a jazz trio and the South Yorkshire Rock Choir.

The stunning Christmas lights are set to be switched on at 5:30pm by a lucky competition winner alongside Santa and Stocksbridge Mayor Cllr Keith Davis. The switch on will be accompanied by a brass band performance and a spectacular fireworks display!

There will also be a Christmas Market running 10am-7pm to get you in the festive spirit- be sure to visit the indoor market hall and pick up unique Christmas gifts and delicious winter warmers at the hot food-to-go stalls.

This year will see the return of Joe Sentence from Dearne FM to host the event and Fox Valley’s 7-metre-high reindeer Foxicle which was named by last year’s competition winner James Johnson.

This year the centre is running a Christmas card design competition where the lucky winner will turn on the Centre’s Christmas lights with Santa on Friday 17th November! Entry forms can be found in M&Co and JoJo Maman Bebe.

Burrow’s Motor Company will also be running a ‘Guess the number of balloons in the car’ competition on the night of the event where there will be a luxury Christmas hamper up for grabs.

The switch on event kicks off a packed diary of festive events throughout November and December including markets every Friday and Saturday, the Coca Cola Truck Tour on November 28th and the Festive Fox Valley Farmers Market on Saturday December 2nd

Fox Valley’s Centre Manager Annabel Plumtree said “we are so excited to bring another spectacular Christmas Lights event with lots of entertainment and a festive Christmas Market”.

“We are looking forward to judging our Christmas card design competition which closes on Friday 9th November. The lucky winner will win the amazing experience of turning our Christmas lights on!”

The Fox Valley Christmas Lights event will take place on Friday 17th November starting with the Christmas Market running from 10am. Entertainment will take place 4-7pm and the Christmas Lights will turn on at 5:30pm.
