Fox Valley crowned gold winners at Yorkshire in bloom awards!

3 October 2024

Fox Valley shopping centre in north Sheffield has earned the prestigious Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Award for the second year running  - for the centre’s fabulous floral displays.

The centre had a four-year break from entering the competition and returned with a gold award in 2023 with a second gold for 2024 announced  last week at a special Yorkshire in Bloom Award Ceremony held in Tadcaster.

The team at Fox Valley earned praise from the judges for their “excellent” choice of planting which provides all year-round colour and scent. The car park was described as spotless and the judges also highlighted the sustainable initiatives implemented by the shopping centre team.

Fox Valley houses a compost area as well as solar panels and rainwater collection - quiet areas are also home to hedgehog boxes and bug houses.

The judges added: “The team obviously take pride in the appearance of the centre and in their efforts to involve the local community as much as they can – an impressive entry.”

Fox Valley is owned and managed by Dransfield Properties who also have their head office at the centre.

Operations Manager Jodie Grundy said: “It is fantastic news that we have been awarded a gold for the second year running for Fox Valley, and wonderful that the judges can see that our team has really maintained those high standards.

“Our gardener John Whitaker and the whole team work hard to keep Fox Valley looking beautiful throughout the year. We receive lovely comments from our visitors and it’s a fantastic acknowledgement of the team’s hard work to receive this award.”

The Fox Valley team has this year worked with local butcher John Crawshaw on the floral displays.  The company has a busy store at the centre and sponsors the beautiful display at the roundabout by the entrance, where the iconic Grandad Fox figure can also been seen.

Jodie added: “We want the centre to look good all year round – and were now counting down to installing our Christmas lights, ready for our big switch on which will take place on Friday November 15th.”
