Entertainment Line-up Announced for Fox Valleys Christmas Lights Switch On Event

31 October 2022

The official count down to Christmas starts on Friday November 18 at Fox Valley, Sheffield with the return of its popular Christmas Lights Switch On event following a two-year break.

The fountain area near Ponti’s, Zorro Lounge an McGilveray's Restaurant & Bar will come to life for the evening with a host of local talent and big-name performances seeing the festive period begin in style.

One of the UK’s biggest radio stars, TV presenter and DJ, Stephanie Hirst, will be taking to the decks with a set of belters from 5:15pm until the big lights switch on at 6pm.

A unique and mesmerizing street theatre show from the Spark LED Drummers will then be the grand finale closing the event.  Their high-impact drumming, dynamic choreography and beautiful lighting design, will really end the event on a sparkling high.

This year’s event opens at 4pm with a festive saxophone performance from Jessica Hughes to get everyone in that Christmas spirit.

Dance troupe, Branching Out, will also be making a return to Fox Valley and will be performing at 4:45pm – warming up for the very exciting headline act.

Alexis Gillespie, Assistant Centre Manager at Fox Valley, said: “This will be my first Christmas lights switch on working here at Fox Valley and I am really excited about the lineup. I can see why it is such a popular event.”

Alongside the live entertainment, a festive market will be running from 2pm until 7pm with local traders selling baked goodies, sweets, handmade Christmas gifts and trinkets.

Complementing the market, a street food area will also be running and will include seven different hot food traders including woodfired pizza, crepes, snow cones, Italian street food and a BBQ unit keeping people full and warm throughout the evening.

There will also be a bar on the centre for visitors to enjoy a mulled wine with the entertainment as well as traditional fairground rides for children to enjoy.

All stores will also be opening late for the event enabling shoppers to grab their Christmas gifts early.

The centre is inviting any businesses wishing to take part in the event or become a sponsor to contact the team on: claire.biltcliffe@foxvalleysheffield.co.uk
