Chance to meet Father Christmas at Sheffield’s Fox Valley shopping centre as part of festive tour

18 December 2023

Father Christmas will be paying a visit to Sheffield’s Fox Valley shopping centre this week as part of a festive tour around the area.

Shoppers can listen out for the jingle of sleigh bells on Thursday, December 21, as the Stocksbridge-based centre welcomes the arrival of the Wortley Rotary Club’s Father Christmas Tour.

Father Christmas will be in his magical sleigh located along the main walkway in front of Home Bargains at 4.30pm, where sweet treats await the excited young believers creating a warm glow and all the Christmas cheer needed to send Santa merrily on his way to the next destination on his journey.

Santa's Sleigh and Father Christmas Tour will depart from Fox Valley at 4.45pm, where it will then make stops in Wharncliffe, Worrall, Wisewood and Oughtibridge before returning to the North Pole, promising an enchanting evening for the local communities surrounding Fox Valley.

The festivities will continue as the weekend approaches with the last Fox Valley weekly Friday Market of the year taking place on Friday, December 22, between 10am and 3pm.

An array of stalls will be on offer, from freshly made produce and seasonal delights, to unique gifts, made locally with love, care and attention that would make the perfect gift for friends or family this Christmas.

Stallholders this week include:- Joseph Cliff Fishmongers, Gifts of Love, Luna Wolf Cottage, Quirkby, Megan & Jade, BD Aromas, Steve's Carpets, Fairy Houses, Zoe's Sweet Treats, Finkle Antiques and Sarah's Mobile Farm Shop.

In addition, Honley Youth Brass Band will be playing festive favourites at the market to help make spirits bright between 1pm and 3pm.

And youngsters are urged to take their chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa Claus as Fox Valley's final Santa meet and greet event takes place on Saturday, December 23, between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

You can expect a warm welcome from Santa and his little helper who will be available to have their picture taken with families before setting off on their Christmas Eve journey.

All children will receive an age appropriate gift with donations for Fox Valley's Charity of the Year - Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care - gratefully received.

Claire Biltcliffe, centre manager at Fox Valley, said: "We are thrilled to once again collaborate with the Rotary Club of Wortley for the start of their Father Christmas tour. What a fantastic way for us to come together for this much-loved annual event and help spread goodwill throughout the local community.

“The sight of Santa's sleigh at Fox Valley really marks the start of the Christmas countdown, with last minute gift purchasing in full swing across all our wonderful stores and our final Friday Market of the year, and of course the last chance to meet with Santa and his jolly helper and spread some Christmas joy before the big day finally arrives."
